The groundbreaking standalone VR headset Vive Focus was launched in China on December 12 and already has massive sales.
A single order the Vive Focus of $150M was reported. It is believed to be by the Chinese government and published on WeChat by Alvin Wang-Graylin, China Regional President of VR for HTC: "Vive Focus wins standalone VR market share leader for 12/12 sales festival and gets a new 1 billion RMB ($150 million) order!". An order for $150M would be for about 250,000 units. This is likely to be for use in education and across various innovative government department.
China is setting itself up ready to take the lead in VR technology with this aggressive move into the market.
